Proposed General Store

KPDL is gearing up to launch a new commercial/retail hub at the entrance of Kahawai Point on Glenbrook Beach Road, close to McLarin Road.

Works are scheduled to commence in late 2024. The proposed development may offer essential convenience shopping and various services to cater to the local community’s needs.

Kahawai Kitchen Cafe

While we await the new general store’s opening, KPDL has set up the vibrant Kahawai Kitchen Cafe food van right next to the Kahawai Point sales and marketing hub at 35 McLarin Road.

Here, you’ll find a tempting selection of gourmet treats, top-notch coffee, and our renowned, heart-warming toasties, ready to delight both locals and visitors alike.

Glenbrook Beach Community

Kahawai Point is an extension of the Glenbrook Beach Community. As a result, the new community has access to the existing children’s playground and reserve areas.

As part of this community, KPDL is working closely with the Local Board to enhance the existing Glenbrook Beach playground and the Glenbrook Beach Boat Ramp.

Kahawai Point is located within easy access to many local amenities.  

Waiuku

15 minutes down the road is the charming historical village of Waiuku. Offering plentiful day to day shopping and entertainment it boasts the historic Kentish Hotel, a pub designed to while away a late afternoon over a long lunch.

Pukekohe

A modern growing vibrant hub in the heart of Franklin is an easy 20 minute drive away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with its many cafes, bars and restaurants, yoga studios, cinema, spas, laser strike as well as providing all the day to day essentials and transport options.

In the near future Pukekohe will also host a regional integrated bus and train station. At the end of 2021, the $371m electrification works on the Papakura to Pukekohe rail line began. When finished the works will enable electric trains to run between Central Auckland and Pukekohe. This will provide local residents with a regular hourly commuting service to Auckland CBD.

Karioitahi Beach

Another, 20 minutes away to the west is the stunning black sands of Karioitahi Beach and famous Castaways Resort. Castaways sits above the spectacular beach with stunning views from the Agave Restaurant and the Bersantai Day Spa. The patrolled ocean beach is a haven for year round board riders and summer swimmers.

Education

Kahawai Point is a 40 minute drive to the University of Auckland’s, South Auckland campus in the Manukau City Centre. These modern tertiary facilities offer undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the arts, education, social work, sport, health and physical education.

Schools

This area provides a perfect start for a young family. There are more than 15 pre-schools, primary and high schools in close proximity. This includes Glenbrook Primary School which is serviced by weekday buses from Kahawai Point.

Leisure and Sports Grounds

The central sporting hub of Franklin is Pukekohe. This town provides a multitude of sporting opportunities across sports like cricket, soccer, rugby and hockey. It also provides sporting facilities like Growers Rugby Stadium, multiple rugby and cricket grounds, netball & tennis centres, 2 swimming facilities and many gyms.

Pukekohe Park Raceway is world famous for many events including the V8 Supercars and day/night thoroughbred horse racing.

Waiuku also boasts a very active sporting life. The 100 year old Waiuku Golf and Squash Club prides itself on its scenic but challenging 18 hole coastal course, clubhouse and squash courts.

Just up the road is the Waiuku Sports Park. A multi-sport and recreational facility. It includes football and cricket ovals, a basketball stadium and changing facilities. It is the home of the Waiuku District Rugby Club, a powerhouse of Counties rugby having won the premiership three times and runners-up twice since 2000.

Wrights Water Gardens

Featuring the Mauku waterfall, you will experience the pleasure of being in picturesque surroundings with many lily filled ponds and winding paths. This makes for a great family day out not far from home.

Awhitu Peninsula

Famous for being one of Auckland best kept secrets, this stunning coastal region features beautiful white sand swimming beaches. A 4o minute drive from Kahawai Point, this area is well known for its many bush walks, the Manukau Heads LightHouse, and stunning sunsets.

Waikato River

A local mecca for water sports, especially at the Elbow Waterski Club, the Waikato River provides a fun day out on the water with friends and family. Located 20 minutes south of Kahawai Point the river offers fun and enjoyment for all ages; take a picnic and enjoy what the area has to offer.

Nick’s Cafe, Waiuku | Is a legendary local cafe in Constable Road, Waiuku. It is renowned for its superb coffee and delicious food and friendly service that is why it’s rated No.1 on Tripadvisor in Waiuku in 2021.

The Shires, Waiuku | Known for exceptional Queen Street service, blackboard menus and delicious European food (including Yorkshire Pudding), The Shires excels in food delivery in Waiuku.

Tandoor Indian Restaurant, Waiuku | This place is a hidden gem in Waiuku. The Indian food is delicious, the service very friendly and considered very well priced. The Biryani and Naan Bread are awesome.

The Village, Patumahoe | A casual dining experience with a great vibe, a great place to catch up with friends or have a nice family dinner out, in the lovely settlement of Patumahoe.

The Butchers Shop Café, Patumahoe | What used to be the old local butchers shop, is now a cute quiet rustic café. The perfect place to grab breakfast, lunch or a takeaway coffee.

Popo Loco Tapas Restaurant, Pukekohe | Poco Loco is a great find in Pukekohe. Rated No.1 on Tripadvisor in 2021, the restaurant has a scrumptious menu including tender and juicy Greek lamb, crunchy chicken, and a dessert tasting plate with mini churros and tiny brûlée!

Curry Leaf, Pukekohe | A local favourite the Curry Leaf has excellent Indian food, service, lovely people and is very accomodating. The menu is led by a sensational prawn starter followed by a very tasty chilli chicken with just the right level of spice. It’s also considered great value for money
